Saw this thing down by the Pharmacy in Mahone Bay today!

Looks like your garden variety 4th-gen ‘02-’09 Toyota 4Runner...but there’s something different about it. Can anybody spot what that is? :P

Good catch, it is! :D

The hint is on the roof - Canada Post sign! It’s a privately-owned vehicle for one of the local mail delivery folks! They are given a dispensation, if they wish, to import a RHD vehicle for their work as it makes deliveries easier...which this individual apparently did!

This is actually a JDM-imported Toyota Hilux Surf, not a 4Runner! :D

I also routinely pass another privately-owned Canada Post employee’s house that has a RHD JDM-import 2nd-gen Subaru Forester. :)

It’s a Surf, not a 4Runner. I’ve had a lot of interesting DOTS spots in Japan but while I owned a 4th-gen 4Runner these were always my favorite for exactly this kind of spot-the-difference reason!

Cool thing about the Postal worker thing - I could be wrong, but I THINK it disregards the 15-year rule if the vehicle is similar enough to a model that was sold here! I could be wrong on that though...

Nope, but considering we got these as the 4-Runner here, it was weird for me to see one in RHD with Hilux Surf badges! :P

I very badly want to import a surf. Preferably one with tons of options and a diesel in the same color as my 4runner just to confuse people.

This one started up and drove away while I was sitting there - definitely petrol. Makes sense too as the 4Runner was never offered with a diesel here, so it would be much harder to find parts, hence why people usually import the gas versions.
